Melanie Favre Petit Mermet
Pianist, singer, actress.
She began playing piano with Stefan Dannenmuller and theatre with the Tridimensionnal troupe directed by Yves Prayer. She joined the Jazz class at the Chambéry Conservatory. There she studied piano, jazz history and arrangement. In 2009, she met double bassist Hélène Avice. They both collaborated on different projects. Among other things, they accompanied tap dancer Fabien Ruiz; choreographer of the film The Artist, and worked with director Nathalie Hardouin. In 2012 she met New York harmonica player William Galison.
She lives between New York and France, trains with Barry Harris on the piano, Roger Letson and Jay Clayton on singing and ventures into the streets and stages of New York. In November 2017, she plays Audrey in the musical comedy La Boutique des petites horreurs directed by Grégory Faive within the company Allée des Cerisiers.

In 1977, his meeting with Michel Petrucciani was decisive in his orientation towards Jazz and improvised music. He participated with him in numerous Jam sessions and progressed very quickly. Bassist, double bassist precise, swinging and generous, the richness of his rhythmic and always melodic playing. He plays with a multitude of renowned artists: Steve Houton - Louis Winsberg - Pierre Drevet - Jean Pierre Como - Alfio Origlio - Sylvain Luc - André Villégier - Roger Guérin - François Chassagnite - Daniel Kramer - Juan José Mossalini - Georges Robert - François Laizeau - Mino Cinelu - Larry Coryell - La Velle - Michel Perez - Sangoma Everett... From 2003, he works with the flamenco guitarist Juan Carmona with whom he performs for 12 years on the biggest international stages. In 2005, he joins Mario Stantchev's sextet: Tour in Bulgaria - Morocco - Germany, Jazz in Vienna, etc., and records the album "Kukeri". At the beginning of 2015, he records Alaa Zouiten's album in Berlin, "Talking Oud". A tour of Germany and Morocco followed. At the same time, he created the Altaïr quartet, including Alaa Zouiten.
